FANTASY :3

Uhm yeaah. this shall be the second part of the homework.

Soo i'm here to talk about (discuss ?) my favourite genre of books, and that's fantasy. i'm not sure why i love it actually. probably because i've been playing video games, specifically RPG's since i was fairly young .. ahhh but wait. scratch what i said before. i know exactly why i love fantasy stories :O can't be bothered clicking back and backspacing -.-

§ it's because of how the stories are usually worded. they create such a vivid scenery in your head, and it's entirely up to you how you want it to look like - from the characters, the entire setting, to the little details the book tells you about. i love imagining, rather than having something tell me that "THIS is how it is", and "THIS is how it looks like."

§ still on the whole imagining thing, i love the way that new worlds are created by words. places that are so surreal, so far away from the world we know. it really makes me want to go to those places, to see if they're really the way that they've been depicted. it just makes me want to escape.

§ I. LOVE. DRAGONS. i don't know why, i just seem to have some sort of fetish for them. they're so powerful but elegant but deadly but magical. and i don't know where i got this fetish from, i just kinda have it. ehh come to think of it, i kinda just like mythical creatures in general. harpies, treants, elves, gargoyles, (shut me up), medusas, shamans, necromancers, UNICORNS!, whatever the plural for pegasus is, creeps (lol DOTA.), fairies, sprites, elemental guardians .. ANWYAY. uhm so, let's look at it this way ~ i love dragons. dragons appear in many fantasy stories. therefore, i love fantasy stories. make sense ? no ? ohwell.

§ i believe in magic. there. maybe not the whole reciting spells and marking seals kinda magic, but it's just something i like to believe in. so what.

So all in all, i love fantasy books. while reading them, they make me forget about the real world and enter a new and unknown one, somewhere far away with different ways of daily life. what we know here is completely different from what's true there. places that may be so much different from where we are, depending on which story you're reading really .. uhm yeah i could go on but nahh. i think this is getting too long. so yeah here's a few fantasy books i'd recommend reading ~~

► The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. LOOVED THIS.
► The Story of Stone by N.M Browne. LOOOOVED THIS TOO.
► Dragon's Keep by Janet Carey. currently reading at the moment, but it's pretty cool.
► Enchantress From the Stars by Sylvia Engdahl. LOVE LOVE LOVED THIS ♥ mix between fantasy and sci-fi. GENIUS. one of my favourite ever ever books.

The End ? :D

  1. Love your enthusiasm Maria! You are certainly not alone - there are legions of fantasy fans out there. This will probably be a life-long addiction - my sister is 46 and still totally hooked on fantasy books!
